Chandler Kinney says she’s “scared” ahead of DWTS semifinals

Chandler Kinney shares the sweet life hack she learned from her time on Dancing With the Stars

Chandler Kinney feels the pressure going in that direction Dancing with the stars Season 33 semifinals.

“I tend to be a little more anxious these days,” Kinney said exclusively Us weekly at the EBONY Power 100 Gala on Sunday, November 17th. “So when I find moments just for myself, which is rare, I think that’s the way I can ground myself, recently released. … Even if it takes me like five seconds in my car to just breathe, look out the window, look at the trees — it’s the simple things.”

Kinney dominated that DWTS dance floor with her partner, Brandon Armstrongsince season 33 premiered in September. The two continued to stay at the top of the leaderboard during the series’ 500th special episode on Tuesday, November 12, achieving the season’s first perfect scores for their Argentine tango and their Cha Cha instant dance round.

The Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin alum told Us She learned a lot about how to commit to something “wholeheartedly” and “confidently,” even if you just have to fake it until you make it.

“I think Brandon and I talked back and forth a lot in the rehearsal room because I like to fully understand what I’m doing before I actually do it, and he’s the opposite, saying, ‘Do it and then.’ “You’ll understand,” she explained. “I think that’s a beautiful lesson that applies not only in the dance room, but also beyond that, in life.”

Keep competing DWTS was a great joy for Kinney, she said Us She would “love nothing more” than to continue dancing after the show. “It was a great honor and simply an incredible experience to be able to rekindle my love for dance,” she enthused. “It was something I did as a child and when I started acting I left it behind. … I think everyone saw that I was having so much fun out there. It’s such a passion of mine, so I would love to continue dancing.”

She further teased, “I don’t want to say too much, but yeah, I think there will be opportunities to continue dancing, so I’d like to do that.”

Kinney also hinted that she will wear a “gorgeous” costume in an upcoming episode DWTS. As for her favorite look of the season, she revealed Us: “I really loved Soul Train (Night) because I started in my little sweatpants that I felt so comfortable in. I think I felt the most comfortable this week. And then taking off my pants and putting on my little ruffled skirt, I mean, come on! We love the tear-away.”

Dancing with the stars airs simultaneously on ABC and Disney+ on Tuesdays at 8:00 pm ET and streams the next day on Disney+.
