‘Dancing With the Stars’: Witney Carson Reflects on Partnering with Danny Amendola and Her Viral Dance (Exclusive)

The Dancing with the stars The Season 33 finale airs tonight and pro Witney Carson spoke to PopCulture.com about what it was like working with Super Bowl champion Danny Amendola. The pair are still in the running to win the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy after the semi-final ended with the twist that all five couples would reach the final.

Before last week’s semifinals, Carson told PopCulture.com that it “feels amazing” to have made it this far. “I really didn’t know. I don’t know if we’ll ever know how far we’ll make it when we have a celebrity partner for the first time,” Carson shared. “But to be honest, Danny’s work ethic doesn’t surprise me. He has worked so hard and is so determined to get better. But it’s been really fun going to rehearsals every day and teaching him the craft and he just enjoys it. I’m really, really proud of him overall, more than just making it as far as we did, but just watching him and being a part of it every week has been really great.”

Danny Amendola and Witney Carson appear on Dancing With the Stars for Soul Train Night.

As for Amendola’s improvement, Carson says it’s “really amazing” to see him get better week after week. “I feel like it’s a really special partnership when you can work from kind of ground zero and compete with some of the best dancers that have ever appeared on the show and get pretty much the same results as them “, she explained. “It’s just a real testament to how hard we really work and he’s honestly so much fun. “He’s just so coachable and just a sponge. He just takes it all and really wants to get better. I feel like he was really great.”

Witney Carson and Danny Amendola have become real fan favorites over the course of the season, whether it’s because of their infectious bond or the incredible choreography for each dance. Her dance for Dedication Night proved to be a miracle as it went viral on TikTok and fans recreated the leg move.

Carson admitted that she was “really shocked” because I don’t think we really knew until people started telling us that it went viral because we weren’t actually on TikTok until people told us ‘Did you know that? Your dance is going viral?’ Actually, we didn’t have any idea about it until weeks later. And then people started telling us about it and we were like, “Oh, that’s amazing.” It’s just really cool to work so hard on something and then feel the feedback from the audience, because that’s why we do it.”

“We love it, of course, but it’s, you know, it’s for the fans,” Carson continued. “It’s there for people to enjoy, watch and get together. And now that social media exists, you can really see directly the impact of what you do. And it’s just encouraging to keep going and keep doing our best. We are truly grateful, but the amount of support has been incredibly overwhelming. It was great.”

With only two chances left tonight to convince fans they deserve the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy, it’s hard to say what will happen for Carson and Amendola. But whatever happens, it sounds like this will be a special partnership that won’t go away easily, even when the season is over. Tune in tonight at 8:00 pm ET on ABC and Disney+ to watch the three-hour Season 33 finale of Dancing with the stars and to see who comes out on top.
