What else did the investigation involve?

As the prosecutor’s office noted in its Nov. 7 press release, “extensive and careful measures were taken to clarify the circumstances” surrounding Payne’s death.

This includes, the statement continues, “several dozen testimonies” from hotel employees, family members, friends, doctors, biochemists and psychiatrists. In addition, the press release states, a “detailed analysis of more than 800 hours of video footage from various surveillance cameras at the hotel and others on public streets” was conducted.

But that’s not all. “Forensic extraction of the contents of the deceased musician’s cell phone was also carried out,” the statement said. “From this, his calls, messages, chats in messaging applications and social networks were analyzed.”

In addition, the press release states: “Several gigabytes of data extracted from other mobile phones were obtained and examined, such as that of the hotel receptionist and that of witnesses who voluntarily offered to confirm their statements.”

Other information examined included “a record of guests and orders placed at the hotel bar/restaurant” to see who visited Payne and what they ate and drank, according to the release.

In addition, the prosecutor’s office said that “nine raids on houses” were requested in Buenos Aires.

However, the November 7 press release states: “The investigation must continue as, among other things, the unlocking of the victim’s personal netbook – which is broken – and other devices seized as part of the investigation are still ongoing.”
