A heated showdown between Duke and Kansas earlier in the season just escalated to a new level.

During the second half of a close game at the Terry’s Chocolate Las Vegas Showdown, Kansas center Hunter Dickinson was sent off after appearing to kick Duke’s Maliq Brown in the face. The fifth-year veteran was assessed a Flagrant 2 foul and sent off.

The play came after Dickinson was undercut by Brown while grabbing an offensive rebound. When the two players were on the field, Dickinson stuck his foot in Brown’s face.

The video of the incident can be found below.

And here’s another look.

Dickinson left the game with Kanas leading 57-56. At that point he had 11 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. The No. 1 Jayhawks really could have used him down the stretch against the No. 11 Blue Devils.

It was a harsh look for Dickinson. Kansas has aspirations of winning a national championship and their big man is key to those plans. He entered Tuesday night averaging 17.8 points, 10.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
