Notre Dame men’s basketball had to wait a long time to get going

Markus Burton is the one player the Notre Dame men’s basketball team cannot afford to lose, no matter how long.

Less than four minutes into Tuesday’s game against Rutgers, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Burton was on his way to the start of the opening round of the Players Era Festival, spun and fell to the ground. As Burton landed, Emmanuel Ogbole, a 6-10, 270-pound forward, fell and landed on Burton’s right leg. Burton lay on the ground for a while and then limped toward the sideline. Sophomore Logan Imes came on for Burton, who dragged himself to the end of the bench to be examined by the team’s medical staff.

Burton sat there for a second, maybe two, before getting up and limping to the locker room. He obviously looked uncomfortable/in pain.
