Teachers unions in Beverly and Marblehead reach tentative agreements to end strikes – Boston News, Weather, Sports

MARBLE HEAD, MASS. (WHDH) – Tentative agreements have been reached to end teacher strikes in both Marblehead and Beverly, school officials from both communities announced Tuesday evening.

After 11 missed days of school, Marblehead campuses will reopen to students on Wednesday — an early dismissal day, according to a joint statement from the Marblehead School Committee and the Marblehead Education Association.

“We look forward to welcoming our students back to school and resuming the important work we care about,” the union and school committee said.

Beverley teachers also ended their strike Tuesday night, the last of three teacher strikes on the North Shore this month. The students there will also be back at school on Wednesday.

“We are extremely relieved and grateful to announce that the Beverly School Committee and the Beverly Teachers Association have reached a tentative agreement that will allow our students to return to school on Wednesday, November 27th. “We deeply regret that their education has been negatively impacted by this union strike,” Rachael Abell, chair of the Beverly School Committee, said in a statement.

The tentative agreements come four days after Gloucester educators reached a tentative agreement and ended their strike.
