“Who would have thought that was a good idea?”

Vice President Kamala Harris’ first post-election video to her supporters stunned social media users on Tuesday.

In the video shared by the Democratic Party’s official X account, Harris speaks directly to supporters disheartened by the recent election.

“I just need to remind you that no one can take your power away from you. You have the same power as before November 5th, and you have the same goal as before. And you have the same ability to engage and inspire. So never let anyone or circumstances take away your power,” Harris said.

“I’m not sure you want to reinforce that. There’s something wrong with the vice president,” Fox News contributor Joe Concha joked.

OutKick columnist Mary Katharine Ham wrote, “When you give your phone to someone who monitors your social media posts when you’re working hard, you want to give it to someone who likes you.”

National Review Online senior writer Dan McLaughlin responded: “No video like this would ever have been released by a politician who wasn’t hated by her staff.”

“The joy is gone,” the Prince William County Republican Committee surmised.

Ben Williamson, a former Trump White House adviser, noted: “I read a 5,000-word article about how this was approved for publication.”

“They didn’t let her go @joerogan, but they let her do this,” Terry Schilling, president of the American Principles Project, posted with a facepalm emoji.

“Who thought that was a good idea? Who is this for? What is this for? What does she even say? “I want to emphasize again that we are ruled by fools,” asked Atlantic author Tyler Austin Harper.

Jim Geraghty, senior political correspondent for National Review, wrote: “Apart from the, um, flair of flammability, the ‘Don’t let anyone take your power’ message may be less than ideal as a theme during the peaceful transfer of power.”

The video is reportedly from a call Harris had with donors and volunteers today in which she addressed her election defeat for the first time since conceding to President-elect Donald Trump.

“The result of this election is obviously not what we wanted. It’s not what we worked so hard for. But I am proud of the race we ran and your role in it was crucial. What we accomplished in 107 days was unprecedented,” Harris said.

Harris has largely stayed out of the spotlight since the election and has been vacationing in Hawaii with his second husband, Doug Emhoff, since last week.
