Jude Law Reveals ‘The Holiday’ Cottage ‘Doesn’t Exist’

There’s no better place than home for the holidays – if there is one.

Jude Law shocked fans of The Holiday when he revealed that the iconic English cottage featured in the 2006 film wasn’t actually real.

“This cottage doesn’t exist,” the actor said on BBC Radio 2’s “The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show” on Friday, eliciting gasps from several people in the room.

Law, 51, explained that director Nancy Meyers was “a bit of a perfectionist” and decided to take matters into her own hands after failing to find the perfect location for the Surrey-set romantic comedy.

“She toured the whole area and didn’t quite find the chocolate box she was looking for,” he recalled.

“So she just rented a field, drew it and had someone build it.”

The Oscar nominee then dropped another bombshell, admitting that the scenes in the makeshift cabin weren’t even filmed there.

“We shot here (in the UK) in the winter and every time I walked through that door we edited,” he recalled, “and we shot the interior scenes in LA about three months later.”

When the show’s hosts begged Law to stop ruining the film’s “magic,” he admitted that he had “just burst the bubble,” adding, “I’m sorry!”

The Fantastic Beasts star starred alongside Cameron Diaz in The Holiday, which also starred Jack Black and Kate Winslet.

The film is set during the Christmas season and, like Home Alone, Elf and other classics, has become a staple every December.

“I just think it’s lovely, honestly,” Law said of his long-standing popularity and influence.
