17-year NBA veteran makes strong statement about Boston Celtics

17-year NBA veteran makes strong statement about Boston Celtics

All eyes were on the LA Clippers and Boston Celtics last night as they squared off in a battle between the two hottest teams in the NBA. Unfortunately for the Clippers, Boston showed how much better they actually are than LA.

Former Clippers star Lou Williams watched last night’s game and compared Boston’s style of play to that of the Golden State Warriors. He believes both Tatum and Brown have improved as shooters on Boston’s path to becoming a jump shooting team.

“Everyone is trying to make fun of the Golden State Warriors and the way they were able to have a championship series full of success playing behind the three-point line,” Williams said. “The Celtics have used their style of play to keep up with them because they have a lot of guys who can shoot the basketball and they have two of the best jump shooters in the game who have extended their range to the three-point line.”

The Boston Celtics made 22 three-pointers against the Clippers and set an NBA record of 12 three-pointers in the second quarter alone. While many believe jump shooting is the Celtics’ downfall, Williams believes they will always be a tough team to beat.

“I don’t see many teams beating them when they hit like that,” Williams said. “When we start talking about the Boston Celtics, we always say that’s their Achilles heel, they shoot too many jump shots. When you have a team that likes to play behind the three-point line, likes to play in the midfield and…” They shoot at a high level and scored 22 goals in one night. It will be extremely difficult to beat this team, no matter who they are.”

Although the Cleveland Cavaliers are off to a 15-0 start to the season, Boston is just two games behind them in the standings. It’s a testament to how good the Celtics really are this season, and the Clippers found that out the hard way.
