Steve Kerr remains silent on Steph Curry’s new injury

Steve Kerr remains silent on Steph Curry’s new injury

When the Golden State Warriors took on the Oklahoma City Thunder in a top matchup on Wednesday night, they received some unfortunate news. The Warriors will be without superstar point guard Steph Curry against OKC, a big hit for a Golden State team looking to break its two-game losing streak.

The Warriors and Thunder have met once before this season, as Golden State earned an 11-point road win led by Curry’s 36 points on 7-for-13 shooting from beyond the arc.

Curry had a productive season, shooting 44.4 percent from three-point range and averaging 22.4 points per game, but the Warriors have proven they can win without their star guard. Steph has already missed three games this season and Golden State has won all three. While they’re obviously better when he’s healthy, they’re deep enough to still be dangerous.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr gave the first update on Curry’s new knee injury before Wednesday’s game.

“He got banged up last week because his knees were giving him trouble,” Kerr said of his star point guard. “Hopefully (Curry missing Wednesday’s game) gives Steph the time he needs over the next few days to prepare for our road trip…I do (I think he’ll be ready for Saturday).”

Of course, it’s unfortunate that Curry will have to miss Wednesday’s game against the Thunder team that sits atop the Western Conference, but the good news is that he should be back for Saturday’s game against the Phoenix Suns.

The Warriors have already exceeded expectations early in the season, winning 12 of their first 17. Therefore, the key to success from here on out is keeping Curry and his company healthy.
