State police identify suspect in pursuit of stolen car through NH, Mass.

A high-speed chase for a vehicle wanted in New Hampshire that spanned several Massachusetts highways ended Monday morning in West Boylston. Massachusetts State Police sent out an alert at about 9:51 a.m. about a stolen Mercedes SUV from New Hampshire that was wanted for burglary was stolen from a repair shop in Derry, New Hampshire, in a break-in reported at 7:24 a.m., the said Police with. Massachusetts State Police spokesman Tim McGuirk said the first trooper to spot the vehicle on this side of the state line spotted it southbound on Interstate 93 shortly before 10 a.m. McGuirk said the trooper followed the Mercedes onto Interstate 495 and then onto Route 2. While Sky5 was overhead, we saw the black SUV zigzagging between the lanes and the shoulder, speeding past other vehicles. At some point, the SUV crossed a grassy median to reverse direction on one of the highways. McGuirk said speeds reached up to 90 miles per hour during the pursuit before officers ended the pursuit and instead used the vehicle’s built-in GPS to track his movement. The pursuit ended after 11:15 a.m. when the Mercedes came to a stop in West Boylston near the Sterling Line and was quickly surrounded by several unmarked vehicles. Officers came out with guns drawn and the driver raised his hands. He was later identified as Andrew McInnes, 40, of Methuen. State police said the arrest was made without any problems.
