Former Titans coach Mike Vrabel shares story about Urban Meyer on ManningCast

Owen Wilson shared an amusing story on ManningCast Monday about former college and Jacksonville Jaguars coach Urban Meyer not recognizing him at a celebrity flag football game.

Former Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel outdid the movie star in his appearance on the show.

Vrabel told co-hosts Peyton and Eli Manning that he could “identify with Owen Wilson,” to whom Meyer asked, “Do I know you?”

“I coached the Titans and he coached the Jaguars, and he actually said the same thing to me,” Vrabel revealed. “I said, ‘Yeah, I’m the head coach of the Titans and I worked for you for two years.’ “

In fact, Vrabel was on the staff during Meyer’s first two years at Ohio State. Vrabel served as the team’s defensive line coach in 2012 and 2013 before accepting a position as linebackers coach for the Houston Texans.

Given this close connection, Vrabel’s story elicited laughter from the Manning brothers.

“That’s exactly his line, I guess,” Eli said, laughing.

Vrabel told the story with a smile, perhaps seeing it as a way to make a joke at the expense of his former employer and colleague.
