Evil Idina Menzel will appear there Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, USA.

After the publication of Wicked: Part OneIt’s safe to say the world has been gripped by pink-green fever. Greenwich in London was renamed GreenWitch. Charli XCX led a Saturday Night Live Sketch about stars auditioning for the film. Fans of the musical adopt the lyrics to “Defying Gravity” and “really hold their ground” (iykyk).

So it’s only natural that Broadway superstar Menzel, who originated the role of Elphaba Wizard of Oz stage musical, would be tapped for Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day Parade.

However, the Tony Award winner will be promoting a new musical. Menzel will sing the song “Great Escape”. redwood on a new float, “Wonderous World of Wildlife,” from the Bronx Zoo. This is the first time the 125-year-old organization has partnered with the parade.

In a statement, Menzel said of her upcoming performance: “As a native New Yorker, it is a great pleasure to perform there Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and working with the Bronx Zoo, whose connection to the city and mission to protect nature is very important to me.

“Conservation is at the heart of my new musical and is an important message for viewers. I can’t wait to connect with my fans on the streets of Manhattan and soon back on Broadway.”

Menzel makes her long-awaited return to Broadway in January with writer-director Tina Landau’s original musical, which features songs by Landau and composer Kate Diaz.

Menzel will star as Jesse, who “seems to have it all – a successful career and a devoted family – until a life-changing event distances her from everything and everyone she knows,” the musical logline reads.

“When she finds herself at the foot of the redwood trees in Northern California, a chance encounter and a leap of faith will change her life forever. Redwood explores the lengths – and heights – one travels to find strength, resilience and healing.”

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will take place on November 28th in Manhattan, New York City and will air from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on NBC and Peacock. Previews for redwood begins January 24th at the Nederlander Theater, New York City.
