(FOX2) – Residents will wake up to a very different day on Tuesday after the cold front moves through. With rain greeting many when they wake up, it’s expected to get even colder into the weekend!

High temperatures on Monday were 50 degrees — perhaps the last 50-degree day we’ll see in the Detroit metro area for a while as cold air moves in.

Skies will be cloudy early this morning, which should give way to partly cloudy skies, and yes, some sunshine later this morning into the afternoon.

Highs will be around 41 degrees, but it will get colder thanks to a strong west-northwest wind at 15 to 25 miles per hour. The expected cool wind will get us into the mid 30s throughout the day.

Overnight lows will fall to freezing tonight as winds ease.

A weather system Wednesday night into Thursday will bring showers and possibly a wintry mix.

High temperatures will remain steady in the low 40s on Wednesday and Thursday, but we could see a few showers and perhaps snowflakes as Thanksgiving begins.

Keep this in mind when you head downtown for the Turkey Trot, the Thanksgiving Day Parade, or even the Lions. It might be wet early but it will be cool all morning!

Colder temperatures arrive on Friday and the weekend, with high temperatures barely reaching the freezing mark of 32 degrees. Bundle!
