Tim Matheson says he slept with the “Cheers” star on the same day he slept with three other women

Tim Matheson described a pretty raunchy day in his life in his memoirs I’m very pleased to meet you.

The day before his 33rd birthday, the director revealed that he had slept with four different women, including both Kirstie Alley and his then-girlfriend. He dated an Emmy Award-winning actress whose name he did not mention in the story. However, he was more than happy to mention the name Kirstie Alley.

Remember that his girlfriend is in New York during this time. At least she should be.

He begins his story with his first visitor, an unnamed woman with whom he has “spent time” before. He remembered her saying, “Hey, hey… So… I know it’s your birthday tomorrow. And…I wanted to give you an early present.” Pretty promising stuff.

Matheson decided to invite her over and they sat downstairs on the couch.

Just a few hours later, another woman rang his doorbell at 2:30 p.m. Of this encounter he writes: “This time there was a beautiful waitress on my doorstep who I knew and who worked a few blocks down the street. ‘I have to work all day tomorrow,’ she said, pouting at her swollen waitress lips. ‘So me.’ wanted to wish you a happy birthday today.’”

I think you know where this is going.

You may have noticed that the first two women he slept with just hours before his birthday were neither Kirstie Alley nor his girlfriend. And this is where the story gets very interesting.

Tim Matheson once slept with Kirstie Alley

Just a few hours later, he receives a call from none other than Kirstie Alley.

“Tim! “Who is that?” he asked.

“You know damn well who it is,” she replied.

That was five years before Alley landed her role in Cheerswhen she was in her “funny-Wichita-girl-now-in-LA-partying phase.” Matheson invites them over and they get to work. They then chat for some time.

In a surprising twist, Matheson then writes: “My New York girlfriend was now standing on the bedroom threshold. New York was probably still 2,800 miles away, but she certainly wasn’t.”

He was (rightly) caught by his girlfriend who wasn’t happy at all. She fled the house, but Matheson caught up with her. After crawling and realizing how much his girlfriend meant to him, he knew he had to change his ideas.

For some reason they were still sleeping together.
