Here's how to get Paramount Plus for just $3 a month this Black Friday

We may not have seen a Disney Plus deal yet, but this savings on Paramount Plus on Black Friday makes up for it.

You can currently get the streaming service’s “Essential” tier or the bundle with Showtime for just $2.99 per month for the first two months. Considering that Paramount Plus Essential normally costs $7.99 and the Paramount Plus/Showtime package costs $12.99 per month, that’s a discount of $5 and $10, respectively. A 76% savings isn’t bad by any means, but it’s especially good on Black Friday when everyone is vying for attention. As far as I know, you don’t need any special codes to access this discount either. When I went through the sign-up process for this offer myself, the savings were automatically applied at checkout.

Annoyingly, the competition hasn’t come out of hiding yet – I’m still waiting for the Disney Plus Black Friday deals to be released. Since this offer steals all the good press, hopefully the House of Mouse will come away with a similar discount.

Should you buy Paramount Plus?

OK, that’s the million dollar question. Should you actually bother with Paramount Plus? As with all streaming services, it depends on what’s in the library. The studio’s biggest names include Star Trek (including all previous series and every new release like Strange New Worlds and Below Decks), the new season of Frasier and films like Transformers One or A Quiet Place: Day One. If any of these appeal to you, I’d say this two-month price cut is at least worth taking the plunge.

Which deal you get depends entirely on whether you’re a sports fan, as the Showtime package includes NFL on CBS, UEFA Champions League and more. To be honest, since it’s discounted to the same level as Paramount Plus Essential, even though it’s usually more expensive, I’d just do the combo deal anyway and cancel when the two months are up. As long as you remember to cancel at the normal, higher price before the automatic renewal until the end of January, you won’t lose anything.

Honestly, that’s the kind of discount that would make me give Paramount Plus a try. Like everyone else, I have more streaming service memberships than I can imagine, so I’ve always been wary of subscribing to more. But for less than a cup of coffee? Sure, why the hell not. Since this subscription takes us beyond Christmas and the holiday season (i.e. the perfect opportunity to veg out on the couch), it’s certainly a good time.
