Boston Bruins vs. New York Islanders Prediction, Odds and Tips

Boston Bruins vs. New York Islanders Prediction, Odds and Tips

Wednesday night’s NHL slate includes a matchup between the Boston Bruins and the New York Islanders. The Bruins are looking to avoid their second loss in as many nights, including Tuesday’s loss to the Canucks. The Islanders also want to get back on the winning list after losing their last game against the Red Wings.

The Bruins have been terrible on the offensive side of the ice this year, scoring zero goals against the Canucks while averaging just one goal per game over the last four games. They rank last in the league in goals per game, second to last in power play percentage, and in the bottom third of the league in shots on goal per game. Their power play is 3:18 in their last four games, resulting in relatively zero chances. The Bruins are just a tough opponent right now.

The Islanders also struggle in the offensive zone, allowing 2.45 goals per game, which is 29th in the league. The only team that has a worse power play unit than the Bruins is the Islanders, who score a power play goal 12.7% of the time. The Islanders also have a terrible penalty kill, just over 70%, which is second worst in the league. However, this shouldn’t matter as the Bruins have had a poor power play recently and the Islanders have the fewest penalties in the league.

This game was supposed to be boring, with very little action or scoring opportunities. I like the under in this game, with a goal or two ahead of me.

Boston Bruins vs. New York Islanders Prediction: Under 5.5 (+100). Playable under this number.
