Despite technical difficulties, the war and the treaty bring a Christmas atmosphere to Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a holiday tradition for countless families across the country. Each year the parade brings out unforgettable floats and balloons. However, for many, the live musical performances are the highlight of the event. Today, families across the country watched The War and Treaty couple perform “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” on the Deck the Halls Float.

The duo overcame technical difficulties, forcing hosts Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker to go through with their original spot. But after a commercial break, they proved that good things come to those who wait.

Tanya Trotter and Michael Trotter Jr. formed their duo a decade ago. However, it took years for them to gain a foothold. More recently, they have graced the stages of the CMA Awards, the People’s Choice Awards, the Grand Ole Opry and more. Today they took to the streets of New York City with SONG NAME and introduced their sound to the entire nation.

The War and the Treaty bring Christmas magic to the Thanksgiving parade

It may be hours until we sit down to Thanksgiving dinner, but the War and Treaty and many others along Macy’s legendary parade route are already thinking about Christmas. This year, the duo teamed up with Balsam Hill to bring the Christmas magic to the event a month early.

Balsam Hill makes premium artificial Christmas trees that all with the keenest eye will mistake for real. One of Balsam Hill’s Vermont White Spruce trees decorated the float the duo rode on. This is just the beginning of the careful decoration that went into the car.

The “Deck the Halls” float features nearly a mile of garland and several miles of twinkling Christmas lights. Additionally, the centerpiece of the three-story exhibition was a fully functional carousel. Other decorations on the float included several smaller Christmas trees and a European-inspired Christmas pyramid.

More from the couple

Those who first heard “War and Treaty” while watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade and want to hear more are in luck. Earlier this month, they released a rendition of “Do You Hear What I Hear.” Additionally, they have four full-length albums under their belt. Her debut album Down to the river discontinued in 2017. The next year they were published Healing flood. In 2020 the publication of Heart city. The duo’s latest – and probably best – album, lovemaking fell last year.
