Fans believe the Lions’ Thanksgiving drought is coming to an end this year

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. All year long we ask questions of the most connected people Detroit Lions Fans and fans across the country. Register here to participate in weekly email surveys.

In this week’s SB Nation Reacts polls, we asked Lions fans two questions:

1. Are you confident the Lions are on the right track? (weekly survey)
2. Will this be the year the Lions end their Thanksgiving winning streak?

For the fourth straight year, 99% of Lions fans believe the team is on the right track. This is the sixth time the Lions have reached the high mark, the most among all SB Nation fan bases.

It’s been seven years since the Lions got a win on Thanksgiving, and Detroit is on a nine-game winning streak. 86% of Lions fans believe this will be their year to end the drought. Additionally, another one 73% of national fans I believe that the Lions will not only win, but also cover the 10.5 point spread set by the people over there FanDuel Sports Betting.

Honestly, even though 86% is a clear majority, I’m a little surprised it’s so low. Based on some explanations from the comments section of the original articleThere are many people who are worried about injuries. But as I noticed in mine “Key to Victory” article. There are many advantages the Lions have over the Bears and I think they should be able to overcome any losses due to injury.

Let’s take a look at some of the explanations from the comments section, lightly edited for length and clarity:

  • Kdog060: “With all of our injuries, especially at the CB position, this will be a close game.”
  • Hankfan232425: “Yeah, I think the Lions will win, but -10.5? Decker not playing against the Bears defense concerns me. As great as Goff is, we need a healthy starting O-line.”
  • DanCampbellSoupBowl: “The spread could be -20.5 and I would still bet on the Lions.”
  • Quinny Pooh: “I don’t need style points. I have to get enough Ws to win the division…3-2, 37-36…It’s all good to me.”
  • TomRem: “A nice 50 burger would go well with my pickled chicken and sides.”
