Former Chargers star announces reunion interest as season comes to an end

Former Chargers star WR Keenan Allen is already considering his next move after a disappointing season with the Bears. Based on his recent comments, it seems like he may be eyeing a return to Los Angeles.

Allen became one of the NFL’s best wide receivers during his 11 years with the franchise, accumulating 904 catches for 10,530 yards and 59 touchdowns. He’s an unrestricted free agent after this year, so a return to the organization that made him a household name could make sense.

He recently appeared on The Big Dog Show alongside Bears teammate Marcedes Lewis and stated his intention to consider all options.

Even though Allen is a 32-year-old receiver, he obviously still has some potential. In Week 12, he scored nine of his 15 for 86 yards and a TD, proving his value to teams across the league. After the Chargers’ resurgence under Jim Harbaugh, Allen is an ideal target.

“I’ll say this: I’m not playing – it’s Chicago or LA,” Allen said to his teammate (Lewis). He will either stay with the Bears and Caleb Williams or return to Justin Herbert and Harbaugh.

Los Angeles’ receivers have had significant problems this season. It’s a young group and Quentin Johnston’s issues with drops have plagued the team, making a man like Allen an ideal target. He is known for his hands and has had a drop rate of over 4.0% in just two seasons.

If he is honest about his desire to potentially reunite with the Chargers, the front office needs to take advantage of the opportunity.

A standout receiver is the only thing Los Angeles is missing. Allen could teach this young core the ropes and help propel the team to the top as it looks to become a new powerhouse in the AFC.
