The reeling Florida Panthers (12-9-1) host the division-leading Toronto Maple Leafs (13-6-2) tonight at Amerant Bank Arena, completing a three-game homestand.

After defeating league leader Winnipeg 5-0 on November 16, the Panthers lost consecutive games to the Jets, Chicago Blackhawks, Colorado Avalanche and Washington Capitals, scoring just nine goals during the losing streak. Defenseman Niko Mikkola was the only Cat to light the lamp in Monday’s disappointing 4-1 loss to the Ovechkin-less Capitals as the Panthers missed a bright start from Spencer Knight. Sam Reinhart saw his 13-game point streak come to an end against the stingy Logan Thompson.

The well-rested Maple Leafs enter tonight’s game on a four-game winning streak that has allowed them to overtake the struggling Panthers in the standings. In their final game on Sunday, the up-and-coming Buds turned a strong second half into a 3-2 win over the visiting Utah Hockey Club. Leading scorer Mitch Marner scored twice and Joseph Woll stopped 24 shots, giving Toronto a 7-2-1 record in its last 10 games. Auston Matthews, who has missed Toronto’s last eight games, could return.
