The Liga MX Apertura quarterfinals begin on Wednesday with two games, including Tijuana against Cruz Azul. Cruz Azul is No. 1 while Tijuana is No. 8.

Tijuana last played against Atlas in the game for number 8 and won comfortably 3-0. Raúl Zúñiga scored two goals, including a goal just four minutes into the game and another after 20 minutes. Kevin Castañeda also scored a goal in this game.

Cruz Azul is in action for the first time since November 9, when the team played to a 1-1 draw with Tigres to end the regular season. The game remained goalless until Tigres scored in the 88th minute, but Angel Sepulveda got Cruz Azul on the board in stoppage time.

The last time these teams met was in July, with Cruz Azul winning 3-0.

Cruz Azul finished the regular season first with 42 points, winning 13 games with three draws and one loss. Tijuana had 29 points, winning eight times and drawing five games while losing four times.

Following this game, Tijuana and Cruz Azul will travel to Mexico City for the second leg of this tie on November 30th.
