The Juan Soto Sweepstakes brings the baseball world to a standstill. Nothing can really move forward until Soto signs his reported $700 million deal because he is the big domino that needs to fall.

Five teams, the Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers, have reportedly sent offers to Soto’s agent, Scott Boras.

FanSided’s MLB Insider Robert Murray revealed when he thinks Soto will sign. This is the day that free agency will get rolling very quickly.

“Soto and Boras have met with the management teams of the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers. The meetings were a kind of “getting to know each other”. However, according to ESPN, the offers are expected to be extended starting this week, reinforcing the thought that Soto could sign during the December 8-12 Winter Meetings,” Murray wrote. “And if Soto does sign during the winter meetings, one thing is certain: all hell would break loose.”

Once Soto signs, teams waiving him will begin offering large contracts to their backup plans. Players like Pete Alonso, Corbin Burnes and Blake Snell are all waiting for Soto to get off the field so they can capitalize on their own value.

As Murray notes, all hell will break loose in the baseball world once Soto signs.
