Live updates: Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire agreement, war in Lebanon and Gaza

In the war-ravaged Gaza Strip, Palestinians fear their plight will be overshadowed by the approach of a possible ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel. They insist that any agreement with Lebanon must also lead to an end to the war in the enclave.

Samia Yassin, 32, from the Zeitoun district of Gaza City said: “If the war stops in Lebanon, it must stop in Gaza too.”

The Palestinian fears that people in Gaza are being “left alone” as the world struggles to reach a ceasefire agreement in Lebanon.

“I demand that the war ends, (for) us and Lebanon together.”

Khalil Yousef, a 45-year-old from the Al-Daraj neighborhood east of Gaza City, said that while he hoped the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah would be signed, he doubted it would last.

“The occupation (Israel) is not honoring agreements,” Yousef told CNN. The father of two still hopes that an agreement between Lebanon and Israel will end the war in Gaza.

“We in Gaza hope that the war in Lebanon and Gaza will end together,” he said. “We are victims of a war that has nothing to do with us. After these months, enough of the war in Gaza and Lebanon.”

Saqr Alian, 38, was also skeptical about a permanent deal in Lebanon but said he was “for stopping every drop of blood that is being shed by our people and the Lebanese people.”

Khader Al-Za’anoun of Wafa, the official Palestinian news agency, contributed reporting.
