Netflix releases trailer for Prince Harry’s “POLO” documentary series (exclusive)

The first look at Prince Harry’s latest Netflix docuseries is here — and PEOPLE has an exclusive first look at the trailer.

The streaming service will be released on December 10th POLOproduced by Archewell Productions, the production company Prince Harry shares with his wife Meghan Markle, and Boardwalk Pictures. Both Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, served as executive producers on the project.

The five-episode documentary takes a behind-the-scenes look at the fast-paced and glamorous world of polo, following the world’s elite players as they compete at the US Open Polo Championship in Wellington, Florida.

“This series offers audiences an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at the passion and determination of some of the world’s best polo players, revealing the courage behind the glamour,” Prince Harry said of the series. “We are proud to show the true depth and spirit of the sport – and the intensity of its risky moments.”

The show’s trailer says of practicing the sport: “Imagine riding a horse at 35 miles per hour while someone is coming at you at full speed.” A voiceover adds, “It’s that Adrenaline rushing through your body – it’s addictive.”

“Polo is not just a sport,” says a voiceover from the trailer. “Polo is a lifestyle. We eat, we breathe, we sleep Polo.”

The trailer showcases the professional and personal lives of the athletes featured in the show, as polo is described as “also a sexy sport – dirty, sweaty boy riding.”

At the end of the trailer you hear the words “For the legacy. For courage. “For Glory” appears on the screen.

“Through fierce rivalries and intense training, viewers will gain an unprecedented insight into the dedication and skill required to compete at the highest level of the sport,” Netflix said of the show. “From a young player pushed to the limit by his demanding father, to a former golfer who made great sacrifices for the love of the game, to the father-son duo widely regarded as the greatest players of all time – they all face intense personal challenges and professional challenges in the fight for the coveted title.”

Athletes featured on the show include Nacho Figueras, a longtime friend of Prince Harry and a frequent polo player alongside the Duke of Sussex. The famous polo player from Argentina can be seen in POLO as an expert and is a consulting producer for the show.

“Prince Harry and I have talked about polo for years. The production company is incredible and Netflix has a huge platform to reach the biggest hearts in the world. I’m excited to be a part of it and think this is a great opportunity for the sport.” Figueras told PEOPLE exclusively about the show in April.

Also appearing is Team Valiente’s Adolfo Cambiaso, who Netflix says is “widely considered one of the greatest polo players of all time.” He is the father of the aforementioned father-son duo and he and his 17-year-old son Poroto Cambiaso of Team La Dolfina are competing at the 2024 US Open, their first high-goal final against each other on American soil.

Team La Fe’s Louis Devaleix – who only started playing polo in 2020 at the age of 38 – is also featured in the series, as is his marriage to US Open polo player Pamela Flanagan Devaleix, who had their first together over the course of the course Child expects the series (and who appears in the series). Timmy Dutta from Team Dutta Corp can also be seen in the trailer, especially the storyline surrounding his father Big Tim Dutta, the team owner of Timmy’s team – and who shows great love for his son. Finally, Team Coca-Cola’s Keko Magrini, along with Poroto and Timmy, represent “the new generation of sports” according to Netflix, “bringing sharper skills and a more fearless willingness to take risks to every game.”

POLO follows Netflix offerings from Harry and Meghan, including the six-parter from 2022 Harry and Meghan documentaries; 2022 Live to lead; and 2023 Heart of Invictusvia Harry’s Invictus Games. It precedes an as-yet-untitled offering from Meghan in which she will “celebrate the joys of cooking, gardening, entertaining and friendship.”
