NHL on Tap: Sherwood and the Canucks want to extend their winning streak with the Bruins

Vancouver Canucks at Boston Bruins (7 p.m. ET; NESN, SN)

Kiefer Sherwood is looking to extend the three-game scoring streak of the Canucks (10-6-3), who will be seeking their eighth straight road win against the Bruins (10-9-3) at TD Garden. Sherwood scored a goal in Vancouver’s 4-3 win at the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. The 29-year-old striker has five points in a four-game points streak. Brock Boeser will return for the Canucks; The forward missed seven games after receiving an illegal check to the head from Los Angeles Kings’ Tanner Jeannot on November 7. Boeser has 11 points (six goals, five assists) in 12 games after setting an NHL career high with 40 goals and 73 points in 81 games last season. After a 2-1 win at the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday, Boston is aiming for its third straight win under interim coach Joe Sacco. Sacco replaced Jim Montgomery, who was fired on November 19th. Defenseman Mason Lohrei has four assists in his last five games for the Bruins.

Utah Hockey Club at Montreal Canadiens (7 p.m. ET; RDS, TSN2, Utah16)

The NHL celebrates its 107th anniversary on Founder’s Day. The Canadiens (7-11-2), the league’s oldest franchise, host Utah (8-10-3), their newest team, for the first time. Jack McBain scored two straight goals and three of four goals for Utah, which has lost four of five. Montreal is looking to bounce back from Saturday’s 6-2 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights. Captain Nick Suzuki leads the Canadiens with 19 points (seven goals, 12 assists) in 20 games.
