Prince Harry’s possible return to the UK remains uncertain as royal author Omid Scobie suggests Meghan Markle has no intention of returning.
According to Scobie’s book Endgame, the Duchess of Sussex “never wants to set foot in England again” because she “never really felt at home” during her time in the country.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and moved to Montecito, California with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. While Harry has made several trips back to the UK, including one earlier this year to visit King Charles following his cancer diagnosis, Meghan has reportedly stayed away.
According to The Mirror, the couple’s last visit together was in 2022 for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. Speculation continues about possible peace talks with the royal family, but Scobie assures that Meghan “never wants to be involved in the British monarchy again.”
In “Endgame,” which deals with the current state of the monarchy, Scobie quotes Harry as saying, “I’m ready to get over it. Whether we get an apology or accountability, who knows: who really cares at this point?” This statement highlights Harry’s willingness to reconcile, in contrast to Meghan’s alleged reluctance.
According to Express, the couple have purchased a vacation home in Portugal that could serve as a European base. However, the eviction from Frogmore Cottage last year following Harry’s memoir Spare makes their relationship with the UK even more complex.
Harry has shared that he intends to maintain contact with his family, explaining during an appearance on Good Morning America: “I have more travel planned. They would take me around the UK or back to the UK, so you know, I’ll pop in and see my family as often as I can.
While Harry seems open to mending fences, Meghan’s alleged unwillingness to return raises questions about the couple’s future relationship with the British royal family.
