My analysis
The Houston Rockets have a very impressive young roster and it looks like they are finally coming together. Houston is 13-6 and in third place in the Western Conference and just beat the Wolves in overtime in the NBA Cup.

Alperen Sengun is an important reason for the Rockets’ success and continues to show why he is one of the rising stars in the association. The Turkish-born center averaged 18.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists and recorded a triple-double against Minnesota.

Sengun finished with an impressive stat line of 22 points, 11 dimes and 10 boards. He also had three steals and three blocks. Sengun has been scoring at a high level lately, reaching the over in points in three of his last four games.

Sengun also beat the Philadelphia 76ers in 2023-24, scoring a total of 47 points in two games. Philly is still missing Joel Embiid, meaning Sengun can dominate down low given the Sixers’ weaker frontcourt. All signs point to an outstanding performance from the 22-year-old tonight.

Recent meetings suggest that Philadelphia should win this game. The Sixers have won three straight against the Rockets, but are struggling at 3-13 and in second-to-last place in the Eastern Conference.

Embiid and Paul George barely played, which doesn’t help. It was essentially Tyrese Maxey and rookie Jared McCain who carried the load.

The Rockets, meanwhile, are 8-2 in their last 10 games and have plenty of confidence. An away win should be possible for an up-and-coming Houston team.

Maxey had a respectable season as Philly’s top option, averaging 24.4 points, 3.8 assists and 3.2 rebounds. But he’s only shooting 29.4% from three and hasn’t done much offensively in the last four games.

The former Kentucky star has reached the over score just once during that span, scoring 26 points against the Nets on November 22nd. Maxey scored 17 points in a significant home loss to the Clippers a few days ago.

Yes, you could say Maxey is in for a big game, but he also only averaged 19.7 PPG in November. The Rockets have the second-best defensive rating in the NBA and will hold him to under 21.5 points here.
