Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb save the embarrassing Macy’s parade moment

Savannah Guthrie And Hoda Kotb quickly recovered after The War and Treaty’s music did not play during the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

“The swing around the three-story-tall Vermont White Spruce Christmas Tree is a hand-crafted children’s carousel with a beautiful selection of some of its 40 different lifelike trees,” Kotb, 60, said during the parade’s live broadcast on Thursday, Nov. 28. “It is clear that this scene will be an everlasting tradition.”

Guthrie, 52, then introduced The War and Treaty, who performed on the float at Balsam Hill, but something went wrong.

“Well, you know what, every now and then there are a little hiccups,” Kotb said. You could hear the fans cheering for the artists even though they weren’t singing.

Despite the weather, there weren’t too many mishaps at this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. For Kotb, however, it was an emotional affair. The NBC anchor announced in September that she was retiring from television Today show. (When Cynthia Erivo appeared at Thursday’s parade, she even brought Kotb flowers.)

“I realized that at 60 it was time for me to turn the page and try something new. “This is the right time for me to move on,” she said during the Sept. 26 broadcast, becoming emotional. Later that day, Kotb explained her decision to leave the house in a letter released on Today Website.

“As I write this, my heart is all over the map,” she shared. “I know I’m making the right decision, but it’s a painful decision. And you all are the reason why. They say two things can be right at the same time, and I feel that so deeply right now. I love you and it’s time for me to leave the show.”
