The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade performance of War and Treaty is canceled due to an audio glitch

An audio glitch during the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade resulted in a stalled start to a performance by Grammy-nominated duo The War and Treaty.

After NBC hosts Al Roker, Savannah Gurthrie and Hoda Kotb introduced the couple, singers Michael and Tanya Trotter stood on a celebratory float (complete with a hand-made carousel) while the cameras rolled, although there was no music playing above them.

The Trotters looked around in silence while the camera was trained on them, and after a few seconds crew members could be heard talking in the background.

“The War and Treaty” awaits its appearance during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Back at the co-hosts’ desk, Kotb handled things while the error was fixed.

“Well, you know what, every now and then there are a little hiccups. Little one! We’re getting our music together over there,” Kotb said, while Guthrie told the audience, “It’ll be worth it.” The tone came back because “The War and the Treaty are an incredible band.”

When the show returned from a commercial break, the sound was back on and The War and Treaty continued with their rendition of Darlene Love’s holiday classic, “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).”

The 2024 parade experienced several other mishaps, including misidentification of the title card Sesame Street Star Olivia Perez as Broadway legend Lea Salonga and a River dance Actor slips and falls in front of the camera in rainy conditions in New York City.
