The Macy’s Thanksgiving parade faced “technical difficulties” as broadcasting was limited to hosts who allowed entry

MACY’S Thanksgiving Day Parade viewers were left in limbo after technical difficulties caused an awkward moment on live television.

The celebratory broadcast was interrupted when the music could not be turned on as singing duo The War and Treaty were just seconds away from performing at the 98th annual parade.

NBC hosts Al Roker, Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb introduced the performance – but when the camera switched to the singers, there was no music.

The couple were seen smiling as they floated through the rainy parade from the Halls’ deck, with no sound coming from their microphones.

The Today Show hosts paused for a moment before realizing the disruption.

Guthrie was quick to explain that there would likely be “hiccups” during live broadcasts, but that didn’t stop viewers from commenting on the moment.

“Wow, technical difficulties! So why can’t they sing a cappella?” one asked on X.

“None of all the people you can have technical difficulties with. Not my war and my contract!! Come on NBC/Macys!” another wrote.

“Technical error, someone please bring the music,” wrote a third.

After admitting the technical difficulties, the presenters then announced that the show would be taking a commercial break – which made viewers even angrier, with many accusing the event of having too much advertising.

“I haven’t gone anywhere in an hour and all we’ve gotten are parade teasers and prescription drug ads. This is no longer for families,” an X user criticized the three-hour parade.

“Was NBC’s broadcast of the Macy’s Day Parade always this terrible? I bought Peacock just to see the floats but it’s literally just advertising and Broadway show plugs,” criticized another.

Ariana Madix called for ‘lip-syncing’ during the Thanksgiving Day Parade as viewers said it was ‘not her strong suit’

One added: “Macy’s is pushing hard with advertising this year. God bless all the artists who have to act happy in the rain at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade.”

When the show returned, The War and Treaty performed a stunning rendition of Christmas (“Baby Please Come Home”) with no further issue.

One X user shared the theory that the problems were due to the singers’ live singing.

“Were the technical difficulties due to the fact that the war and the treaty were not lip-synched? It sounded live!” wrote the viewer.

The comment came after Ariana Madix was accused of lip-syncing during her Cardigans performance of “Lovefool.”

Viewers speculated about lip syncing at most of Thursday’s star-studded performances, including those from Jennifer Hudson, T-Pain and Jimmy Fallon.
