The shutout against Vancouver was the first setback for the Bruins since Joe Sacco was named interim coach.

The Bruins had three power plays after former teammate Jake DeBrusk scored 5:53 into the second period. Conor Garland’s empty net goal with 13 seconds left sealed the victory for the Canucks.

“We just have to start burying our chances,” said Sacco, who succeeded the fired Jim Montgomery on Nov. 19.

“I think we are giving ourselves a chance to take part in games now. The guys defend hard, like I mentioned, but on offense we need to get some guys going and finding their scoring opportunities.”
