ForbesNYT “Connections” Tips and Answers for November 27 (#535)

Happy Thursday and Happy Macy’s Parade Day! No matter where you are in the world and whether you celebrate Thanksgiving or not, I hope you spend time with your loved ones.

One thing I am personally very grateful for is you. Putting this column together is a highlight of my day. The fact that so many of you have read it has changed my life in ways I cannot describe.

I never get tired of people telling me how much they enjoy it, or (especially!) saying that they come over after each game day themselves just to see how I got on. And I definitely appreciate it when someone tells me I made a mistake. So, thank you very much.

I’m very happy that we’re starting to build a small community Connections and this column over on Discord. It’s always fun to find out how other people solved each grid (or not!). I’ll add a link to the Discord here in the near future, but I’m deliberately keeping it small for now. If you would like early access, email me!

Today NYT Connections Hints and answers for Thursday, November 28th will follow soon.

How to play connections

Connections is a free, popular one New York Times daily pun. You will receive a new puzzle every day at midnight. You can play on that NYT Website or gaming app.

You will be presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to divide them into four groups of four by figuring out the connections between them. The groups can be items you can click on, names of research participants, or words preceded by a body part.

Each puzzle has only one solution, and you have to be careful when it comes to words that could fit into more than one category. You can mix up the words to perhaps better see the connections between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to understand, blue and green are in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult. The purple group often contains puns.

Select four words that you think go together and click Send. If you guess and are wrong, you lose a life. When you’re close to finding the right group, you may see a message saying you’re one word away from the right group, but you still need to figure out which word to swap.

If you make four mistakes, the game is over. Let’s make sure that this doesn’t happen with the help of some tips, and if you really find it difficult, even with today’s ones Connections Answer. Like with Wordle and other similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.

If you have one NYT You can access the publications with the All Access or Games subscription Connections Archive. This includes every previous game from Connectionsso you can go back and play any songs you missed.

Aside from the first 60 or so games, you should be able to find my clues for each grid via Google if you need to! Simply click here and enter the date of the game for which you need hints or answers to the search query.

I’m happy to have gotten back on the road to success with a perfect game. This is what happened to me:

I always enjoy when there’s a current topic on Connections (the April Fool’s Day emoji grid remains my personal favorite). I really enjoyed seeing THANK YOU and GIVING on the top row.

After a few more difficult games (although yesterday’s should have been easier for me) I was very happy to have a clear starting lineup today. The combination of THANK YOU and CREDIT made the yellows clear, as did CHEAT and CON for the greens.

There was really only one possible meaning for GOBBLE, but I assumed the other group was the Crimson Ones. In fact, I derived this connection and completed this group first. The Blues had a clean victory.

That’s all for today Connections Hints and answers. Be sure to check out my blog for tips and the walkthrough for Friday’s game if you need them.

PS: One of my favorite songs of the year is “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar. It seems appropriate to share it after news broke this week that Drake accused UMG (both artists’ record label) and Spotify of artificially boosting the track’s popularity. Just take the L, man. The song was a mega hit.

“Not Like Us” is a complete takedown of Drake that, after some back and forth, finally crowned Lamar the victor in a feud between the two. I’ve never heard a catchier diss track or a devastatingly efficient ethering from anyone (although I did have to look up the meaning of some of the lyrics). To make things a little more family friendly, I’ve included a clean version of the track below, but the no-hassle music video is available on YouTube for your enjoyment:
