Unfortunately, bad behavior among airline passengers is no longer uncommon these days, with headlines about unruly travelers seemingly appearing every other day. The clip was recorded by San Diego-based addiction counselor Gino Galofaro, who said he was sleeping and was awakened by the excitement.

“I woke up when he kicked the seat. The flight attendant walked by a few times, no one did anything,” Galofaro recalled. “I handcuffed him and two other passengers were already getting zip ties, so we zip-tied his hands and feet and strapped him to the seat.”

Galofaro noted that the flight was about 40 minutes from landing in Los Angeles when the man began acting out, and that police came on board as the plane landed. He added that he hoped to contact the man’s family to see if he could help them.

“On November 16, local law enforcement encountered United Flight 502 upon its arrival at Los Angeles International Airport after a customer became disruptive,” a spokesperson said. “We would like to thank our crew for helping to manage the situation and working to ensure the safety of everyone on board. We have banned this customer from future United flights.”
