“Vanderpump Rules” Season 12 will be a reboot with a new cast

Pump the brakes: Bravo is rebooting “Vanderpump Rules.”

The network announced on Tuesday that the 12th season of the reality series will feature an entirely new cast. Lisa Vanderpump is joined by a “new group of tight-knit SUR-verse who are just as intricately entangled as their legendary predecessors.”

“The last 12 years of filming have been an extraordinary series filled with laughter, tears and everything in between,” Vanderpump said in a statement. “I can’t thank those who shared their lives with us enough. How much I love you all. In the catering industry, one layer always gives way to another. Cheers to the next generation of Vanderpump Rules.”

The new cast members will be announced at a later date.

“Vanderpump Rules,” which premiered in 2013, centers on the staff of restaurants owned by Vanderpump, an alum of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” Bravo said Season 12 will see Vanderpump’s restaurant SUR welcome the “next group of waiters, hosts and bartenders full of drama, situations and enemies.”

Last year, the reality show made headlines when it came to a scandal called Scandoval, in which it was revealed that star Tom Sandoval had cheated on his then-girlfriend Ariana Madix with his co-star and her close friend Rachel Leviss. “To say I was devastated and broken is an understatement,” Madix said at the time.

In an interview with the New York Times Magazine this year, Sandoval compared the phenomenon of his cheating scandal to “the OJ Simpson thing and George Floyd thing and all those big things.” He later apologized, calling his comments “inappropriate and ignorant.”

Following the cheating scandal, Leviss did not return for Season 11 of “Vanderpump Rules,” which aired earlier this year, but Sandoval remained a cast member.

In a statement on Tuesday, executive producer Alex Baskin said it was “a thrill” to “build on the legacy of this series by doing it all again,” adding: “With deep appreciation for the original group and their iconic Run we can do this.” “Don’t wait for audiences to see a dynamic new group of colleagues and friends go through life together.”

A retrospective special featuring the most memorable moments from the show’s first 11 seasons was also announced on Tuesday. Production on Season 12 begins next year. A premiere date has not yet been set.
